Become An Italian/American With Dual Citizenship

Deciding to gain dual citizenship with another country certainly has its benefits and downfalls. With two citizenships, you must obey and honor the laws and government in both countries, including paying taxes and obligations to both militaries. Obtaining an Italian dual citizenship is no different.

There are many pros to gaining dual citizenship in Italy. For starters, the job and employment benefits are great. If you work for an international company, you can be transferred to Europe without any hassle as you would if you only held a United States citizenship. Italy is very “home grown” and if two people were applying for a position, one holding an Italian citizenship, the other a different country’s citizenship, the Italian person would get the job, no questions asked.

Maintaining dual citizenships carries benefits when you travel as well, especially to other foreign countries. It is no secret that Americans have been a target of terrorism and violence. Flashing a US passport around can arouse suspicion or hatred in foreigners making you an unnecessary target. Showing a foreign passport, however, will let you go on your merry way, normally without any hassle or fuss.

Unlike the United States, Italy offers free public healthcare and free public education at any academic level, though separate taxes do apply for universities. Having an Italian dual citizenship allows you these tremendous rights as well. European governments, including Italy generously provide for citizens who have worked in their countries workforce for a large number of years. Having a dual citizenship at a retirement age frees up the hassle when buying a house abroad or accessing public health care. Making investments is also an easier process as a dual citizen. Having dual citizenship allows you invest in offshore mutual funds and securities without question or hindrance. You also have the ability, as an Italian citizen and US citizen to pass that citizenship down to subsequent children that you may have in the future. In doing this, you are giving your children the gift of the ability to migrate to another city in the European Union to advance their ambitions.
